Marlborough, MA — The Boston Blades close out their 2015 home schedule and look for their first regulation victory of the season as they host the Toronto Furies at New England Sports Center. Saturday’s game starts at 7 PM, while Sunday’s contest will kick off at 11:30 am due to a travel conflict.

The Blades were held to 1 goal last weekend as they faced the Calgary Inferno. CWHL All-Star Genevieve Lacasse broke her career high in saves twice over the weekend, making 60 and then 61 saves over the weekend. Calgary took Saturday’s contest 4-0, and led 2-0 on Sunday before Erin Kickham scored her first professional goal to bring the Blades within 1 in the third period. However, the Inferno struck back less than a minute later and added an insurance tally to seal the game.

Toronto is coming off their bye week after successfully defeating the Inferno the weekend before. Despite dropping a 9-5 decision to Calgary on December 5th, CWHL All-Star Natalie Spooner turned the series on its head for the Furies, tying the CWHL record for goals in a game with 5 en route to a 6-5 Toronto win. Goaltender Christina Kessler saw action in both contests, with Olivia Ross also appearing in Saturday’s contest.

Key to Victory
Bear Down: The Blades have played a series of great games without the results to show for it. With the 4th place team in the CWHL in town, the Blades need to concentrate and pressure Toronto – 2 wins this weekend puts the Blades in a CWHL playoff spot.

Saturday is the annual Teddy Bear Toss, one of hockey’s great traditions! Bring a new or gently used stuffed animal and toss it on the ice after the Blades score their first goal of the game! All animals will be donated to the Salvation Army of Massachusetts. Sunday is the Ugly Sweater game – any fan who wears an ugly sweater receives 25% off Blades merchandise!

Both games this weekend can viewed online with the CWHL’s live streaming package. Purchase a season pass and watch all 32 available games for just under $17.00 USD. Visit cwhllive.com for more information and to subscribe. Chris Knoblock and Steve Ventresca have the call starting 10 minutes before puck drop.
