The Little Britain Merchants gutted out a close 4-2 win against the North Kawartha Knights.
No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Jesse Craig at 12:20 of the third period.
Little Britain was led by Craig, who racked up one goal.
The Merchants' offense rang up 43 shots on North Kawartha's net.
Others who scored for Little Britain included Owen Fawns, Kenzie Smith, and Derek Risebrough, who scored one goal each. In addition, Little Britain received assists from Nathan Watson, who had three and Jordan Sharpe, Terry Snoddon, Aidan Renouf, and Mark Harris, who each chipped in one.
The Knights' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Little Britain power plays.
North Kawartha was helped by Christian Lachapelle, who tallied one goal. Lachapelle scored 18:33 into the first period to make the score 2-0 North Kawartha. Shane Patterson picked up the assist. North Kawartha additionally got points from Patterson, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for North Kawartha came via Justin Thain and Nick Mann, who contributed one each.
Little Britain's Adam Harris stopped 23 shots out of the 25 that he faced. The Merchants incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Spencer Green made 39 saves for the Knights on 43 shots. North Kawartha totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. The Knights ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Mitch Stewart was ejected from the game.
