Eric Pitcher had a standout game with 33 saves, and the Brampton Bombers beat the Brantford 99ers 3-1.
Brampton was paced by Carmine Vietri, who had one goal and one assist. Vietri scored 11:49 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Brampton. Cameron Cruickshank picked up the assist.
Brantford was unable to stop the Bombers from sending pucks towards the net, and Brampton eventually piled up 39 shots on goal.
Others who scored for Brampton included Nolan Regan and Patrick Zilak, who scored one goal each. In addition, Brampton received assists from Wyatt Weppler and Adel Zivojevic, who each chipped in one.
The 99ers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Brantford's offense rang up 34 shots on the Bombers' net.
The 99ers were led by Matthew Woods, who scored the team's only goal. Woods scored on the power play 12:53 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Brampton. Brantford had gained a power play chance when Jonathan Prasnjak was whistled for cross checking. Matt Scanlin provided the assist.
Brampton incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The 99ers' Will Rawski stopped 36 shots out of the 38 that he faced. Brantford incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
