Will Harrison gave the Picton Pirates a 5-4 (OT) victory over the Gananoque Islanders when he scored 1:41 into the extra period.
Picton overcame a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Pirates trailed 3-0 after a power play goal by Gananoque's Chris Boushy at 1:48 in the second period. Picton tied things up at 4-4 on a goal by Mitch Thompson at 7:05 in the third period.
The Pirates were led by Harrison, who had one goal.
Picton forced the Islanders goalie Quinn Cota to work between the pipes, taking 47 shots. The Pirates' goal total was higher than their season average. This season, Picton averages 2.4 goals per contest. The Pirates capitalized on Gananoque's penalties, netting two goals while skating with a man advantage.
Picton additionally got points from James Pero, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Thompson, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Gerald Bilker, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Trey Maracle also scored for Picton. More assists for Picton came via Nate Kellar, Mitch Burke, and Zack Harris, who each chipped in one.
Picton was unable to stop the Islanders from sending pucks towards the net, and Gananoque eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. The Islanders cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring two goals on three chances.
Gananoque was helped by Connor Smith, who finished with one goal. Smith scored 17:21 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Gananoque. Hunter Drew picked up the assist. Gananoque also got points from Matt Carter, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Gananoque also got a goal from Craig Cross as well. In addition, Gananoque received assists from Nick Maillett APM and Drew Marquette, who contributed one each.
The Pirates' Charles Grimard stopped 31 shots out of the 35 that he faced. Picton incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Cota rejected 42 shots on goal for the Islanders. Gananoque incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
