South Park rips Westmont Hilltop, 7-3

South Park had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-3 win over Westmont Hilltop.

Hunter Lanetz had two goals and one assist to lead South Park. Lanetz scored the first of his two goals short handed at 10:09 into the second period to make the score 4-0 South Park. A checking from behind call on Montijo Goob put South Park on the penalty kill. Lanetz's next tally short handed made the score 5-1 South Park with 6:47 left in the second period. Michael Marynchak assisted on the tally.

South Park pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 34 penalty minutes.

South Park found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. South Park has scored at the pace of 4.9 goals per game during the current campaign. The defensemen of South Park were also effective in Westmont Hilltop's zone, and came away with two goals.

South Park also got points from Jakob Hickey, who also registered one goal and two assists. South Park also had goals scored by Ethan Yaworski, Nicholas Gildea, and Joshua Puglisi, who scored one goal each.

Westmont Hilltop stifled South Park's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. South Park was unable to stop Westmont Hilltop from sending pucks towards the net, and Westmont Hilltop eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. Westmont Hilltop could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 18 minutes in penalties during the game.

Westmont Hilltop was led by Nate Shorto, who racked up two goals. Shorto scored the first of his two goals at 11:54 into the second period to make the score 4-1 South Park. Jonathan Barnhart picked up the assist. Shorto's next tally made the score 6-3 South Park with 6:17 left in the third period. Westmont Hilltop had gotten the advantage when South Park's Ryan Miller was sent off for tripping. Austin Degrange provided the assist. Westmont Hilltop also got a goal from Logan Webb as well. More assists for Westmont Hilltop came via Nicholas McQuillan, Isac Jangard, and Gunnar Hockenberry, who each chipped in one.

Trevor Schlater recorded 34 saves for South Park. South Park registered zero goals on four power play opportunities. David Cavrak rejected 23 shots on goal for Westmont Hilltop. Westmont Hilltop registered one goal on eight power play opportunities.
