The Gananoque Islanders were firing on all cylinders against the Campbellford Rebels, and when the final buzzer sounded Islanders emerged with a 5-1 win.
Brenden Lochead had one goal and two assists to lead Gananoque. Lochead scored on the power play 18:13 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Gananoque. The Islanders had gotten the advantage when Campbellford's Travis Bennett was sent off for hooking. Brody Cross picked up the assist.
Gananoque's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Campbellford power plays. The Islanders kept the Rebels' goalie busy throughout the game, and Cole Mahoney made 42 saves on 47 shots.
Gananoque also had goals scored by Chris Boushy, who had two and Ryosuke Kabayashi and Connor Smith, who scored one goal each. In addition, Gananoque received assists from Craig Cross, who had two and Hunter Drew, Drew Marquette, Ryan Patrick, and Phil Smith, who each chipped in one.
Gananoque was unable to stop Campbellford from sending pucks towards the net, and the Rebels eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.
Campbellford was led by Graiden Maynard, who scored the team's only goal. Maynard scored short handed 17:13 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Gananoque. The Rebels found themselves down a man on Robby Ellis's slashing.
Quinn Cota made 30 saves for the Islanders on 31 shots. Gananoque incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For the Islanders, Patrick was ejected from the game. Campbellford incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
