Burford takes care of Delhi early, wins 8-1

The Burford Bulldogs jumped out to a four-point advantage by the end of the first period and beat the Delhi Travellers, 8-1.

Burford's Michael Black was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 38 saves and let only one puck past him. Black managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.5 prior to the game.

The Bulldogs pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 42 penalty minutes.

Burford's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight Delhi power plays. Delhi was unable to stop the Bulldogs from sending pucks towards the net, and Burford eventually piled up 43 shots on goal. The Bulldogs surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Burford has scored at the pace of 3.4 goals per game during the current campaign.

The Bulldogs were helped by Blaise Burtnick, who racked up one goal. Burtnick scored 12:33 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Burford. Jesse Szabo picked up the assist. Burford additionally got points from Tyler Mellish, who also had one goal and one assist. Burford also had goals scored by David DeNardi, who had two and Daiken Salsman, Jensen DaSilva, Ryan McLeod, and Tyler Hinde, who scored one goal each. In addition, Burford received assists from Owen Hinch, Connor MacKay, Nolan Ferris, Jesse Brooks, and Mitch Randell, who each chipped in one and Kurtis Christo and Scott Penwarden, who contributed two each.

The Travellers forced Burford goalie Black to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots. Delhi could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Bulldogs registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. Mike Harrison made 35 saves for the Travellers on 43 shots.
