The Chatham Maroons “Breast Cancer Awareness Night “raised $1725.00 this past Sunday night!
The proceeds from the auction of the player’s Pink Jerseys will be shared between The Breast Buddies and The Canadian Cancer Society.
Nancy Berry, the Breast Buddies Team Manager indicated the $865.00 they will receive “will cover the entry cost for a Dragon Boat race for the Team!”
Rachel MacLeod, Fundraising Co-ordinator of the Chatham-Kent Unit of the Canadian Cancer Society was “thrilled by the whole evening and the interest shown at their display table!”
Members of the Breast Buddies gathered around Christi Palazzolo after she sang “I Believe” during the first intermission.
The Pink Jerseys the Maroons wore were donated by the Chatham Pro Shop and were crested by Screencraft.
The successful jersey bidders had their picture taken with the player and also received an autographed picture of the player.
The ceremonial “Face Off” included Nancy Berry of the Breast Buddies, Rachel MacLeod of the Canadian Cancer Society, Karen Szekesy of the Chatham Maroons and Dyana Richardson, Mother of Maroons player, Trevor Richardson.
The Breast Buddies were honoured during the pre-game celebration.
