Kraemer's big game bests Gateway in 10-3 Serra Catholic win

Behind a great game by Roman Kraemer, who had four goals and three assists, Serra Catholic defeated Gateway, 10-3.

Kraemer got on the scoresheet 36 seconds into the first period. He then added goals at 4:29 into the first, at 2:12 into the second, and at 13:05 into the second.

Gateway's power play was ineffective against Serra Catholic's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Serra Catholic forced Gateway's goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, totaling 55 shots and forcing 45 saves. Cameron Balistrieri made 20 stops and Wyatt Jagger made 25. Serra Catholic's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Gateway power plays. Serra Catholic found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Serra Catholic has scored at the pace of 7.4 goals per game during the current campaign. Serra Catholic could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 18 minutes in penalties during the game.

Serra Catholic additionally got points from Zachary Zapata, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Thomas Werner, who also had two goals and four assists, and Justin Hummert, who also tallied one goal and four assists. Others who scored for Serra Catholic included Kevin Jerome and Dylan Wilding, who each put in one. In addition, Serra Catholic received assists from Michael Ulishney and Joseph Goldstein, who each chipped in one.

Gateway's penalty kill unit could not stop Serra Catholic's power play, which converted on three of five opportunities. Gateway's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Gateway finished with 24 penalty minutes.

Gateway was helped by Jonathan Porter, who registered one goal. Porter scored 3:00 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Ryan Taylor assisted on the tally. Gateway also got points from Taylor, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Gateway also got a goal from Jordan Robbins as well. More assists for Gateway came via Nolan Baker, who had one.

Tyrik Barkley took the win and made 19 saves before being replaced by Jax Bulischeck who made eight saves.
