OZ Fitness AAA Hockey Club traveled to Blaine MN for there first set of games in the NAPHL.

The Team went 1-3-1, which is not bad considering there are only 4 players on the roster with AAA experience in the past.

"We knew this was going to be a big weekend with lot's of learning," Michael Richardson explained. "We have a young team with only 4 players who have played the game at this level."

The team opened up it's season on Thursday afternoon vs. Fairbanks. Losing the game 4-1. Kevin Quinlan started in net and faced 20 shots, turning 16 of them away.

Zach Schingoethe scored the only goal assited from Joe Mata.

The team then faced off the next morning vs. the Las Vegas Storm and got off to a quick 2-0 lead before letting Las Vegas back into the game.

"After the game we discussed what a true champion plays like. It is not a matter of what the score is, you never back down and never quit. We can only blame ourselves for this loss," said Head Coach Mike Richardson.

Jason Kricke got his first start in net and faced 24 shots.

Goals scored for OZ Hockey Club were from returning players Logan Speelman and Cam Strong. Assists for the game went to Tristian Henrichs, Kyle Truax and Torin Foundos.

Next moring Team OZ faced off against Orange County Hockey Club, a club Coach Richardson is very familar with. "Being that I coached in San Jose we played Orange County a lot. We knew that we were going to play a fast paced hockey game, and we had to be ready for everything."

That night Team OZ played Texas Tornado. Texas shut out team OZ 5-0.

"We were not ready to play. That is the bottom line. You can not just show up and win at this level. It does not work that way. The teams and players are too good," Mike Richardson stated after the game.

"If you want to be able to compete at this level night in and night out, you need to be prepared, tonight we were not prepared."

Team OZ took coach Richardson's statement to heart, and came out for their final game of the weekend on Sunday afternoon vs. Detroit Falcons and came out with there first win of the season with a dominating 5-2 victory.

Kevin Quinlan played in net. Cam Strong recieved his first hat trick of the season adding with 2 assists to finish off the weekend.
