Blades Announce Draft Class of 2015
Date: Aug 25, 2015

The Boston Blades had an outpour in offense despite having a short bench of only 8 forwards, beating the Toronto Furies on their home ice 7-0.
The Blades dominated the first period, rarely letting the puck slip into their defensive zone. About five minutes into the period, Tara Watchorn got the scoring fest started with her goal, giving the Blades a 1-0 lead. Despite the immense offensive presence, the Blades would not be able to score on the power play once throughout the entirety of the game. They, however, wouldn’t need to. A few minutes later, Kelly Cooke scored the Blades second goal of the game.
After a successful first period, Brianna Decker would own the second. Toronto would have a power play opportunity when Blake Bolden went to the penalty box. Brianna Decker turned this disadvantage into an advantage, and scored a short-handed goal. Shortly after, Janine Weber scored the Blades fourth goal of the game. Jillian Dempsey and the dynamic Monique Lamoureux assisted her. With the Blades short on forwards, Lamoureux stepped to the plate and played as a forward for the game. A few minutes later, Brianna Decker scored her second goal of the game and the Blades fifth. Soon after, Brianna Decker would score her third goal of the game, good for a hat trick, putting the Blades on top 6-0.
The third period consisted of considerably less scoring, but still Brianna Decker was involved in what did happen. With 1:22 left in the game, Decker scored her fourth and final goal of the game. The Blades would win with a score of 7-0.
The Blades take on the Toronto Furies tomorrow at 12:45PM at the Mastercard Centre.
