Fundy Minor Football has engaged the services of a Strength and Conditioning Consultant (Cory Goodman) to deliver a seminar on Monday evening June 8th. This session will be targeted at football specific, age appropriate training and is expected to run 2-3 hours depending on questions. This learning opportunity will enable all to provide better advice and training to players in all age divisions. An overview of this event is provided below.

The session is free of charge. Monday June 8th – 7PM-9:30PM at NBCC-SJ Room E3005 (In the new Engineering Building) – Parking in the front lot just off Grandview Avenue
Part I (evening)
This clinic is offered to provide football coaches with information necessary to
1) Optimize the effectiveness of their practices by incorporating science-based training principles, and
2) Work on the players’ football skills while concurrently developing their strength and conditioning.
Some of the topics to be explored are:
Speed vs. Endurance
The LTAD model/Training Windows vs. the Linear Periodization model of athlete development
Motor learning, and skill development
Special considerations for strength training and conditioning of the growing athlete
Metabolic, neuromuscular, and mental fatigue
Work to rest ratios
Hydration
Daily schedule, and season planning

About Coach Goodman
Cory is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist, the only credential recognized world-wide for training athletes. He has Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology degree, and also holds numerous Coaching Canada certifications. Currently, he is the head football coach at Hampton High School, and director of Proto Strength & Conditioning -an athlete development firm for youth, amateurs and professionals.
