Date: May 27, 2015
CONNELLSVILLE, PA - The Keystone Ice Miners are happy to announce that forward Vito Aluia has committed to NCAA DIII Lake Forest College (Lake Forest, IL) for the 2015-16 season.
Aluia, a native of Warren, Michigan, played for the Fighting Falcons, and then Ice Miners from 2012-2015, scoring 27 goals and adding 42 assists over three seasons.
"Vito was a very reliable player all three years," said head coach Michael Gershon. "His hard work was contagious and he was always a guy you could count on whether it was on offense or defense. Vito was always a guy who enjoyed coming to the rink everyday and wanted to get better. I look forward to seeing him become a reliable part of the Lake Forest program for the next four years."
Speaking to his reliability, Aluia played in 164 games out of a possible 180 in his NAHL career. He was named "unsung hero" by his teammates in both the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons
The Foresters are members of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) and are coming off one of their more successful seasons in recent history, going 15-7-5 in 2014-15. The Lake Forest program has been around since 1965.
Aluia becomes the second '94 birth year member of the Ice Miners organization to announce a commitment to play college hockey, joining Jon Hall who committed to Buffalo State College in March.
