Dodgers Farmhand Garrett Bolt Signed
The Oregon City Mud Turtles have signed another power arm to their roster, RHP Garrett Bolt.
Garrett was a 23rd round pick by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2011 MLB Amateur Draft from Western Illinois Universtiy. Bolt last pitched in 2014 for Ogen in the Pioneer League after coming back from his second Tommy John surgery.
Bolt has a tremendous arm with a fastball that can reach the mid 90's and a heavy sinker. Manager Joseph Brown saw Bolt this winter in the California Winter League and was immediately impressed.
"Garrett had the best arm in the CWL. There is absolutely no question that he has the ability to get hitters out. Once he gets his feel back, the hitters have no chance against him."
Bolt is expected to be part of a bullpen that is quickly filling up with power arms. "With the guys that I have been able to sign this offseason, we are playing a six inning game. If they are able to replicate what they are capable of, the other teams in the league are going to have to score early and often. Once we get into our bullpen, I feel confident that the game is over."
The Mud Turtles are a professional baseball team in the newly formed Mount Rainier Professional Baseball League, featuring teams in Oregon, Washington, and Montana. Opening day is set for May 21st in Oregon City, as the Mud Turtles take on the Grays Harbor Gulls.
