McComber leads Grimsby over Hagersville, 3-0

The Grimsby Peach Kings' Garnet McComber had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 3-0 win over the Hagersville Hawks.

McComber scored at 19:49 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Grimsby and again while 17:42 into the second to make the score 2-0 Grimsby.

The win gave Grimsby a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Peach Kings were boosted by Marcus Hlywka, who turned in a shutout with 26 saves. Hlywka managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 1.24 prior to the game.

Grimsby excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in 11 chances. The Peach Kings kept Hagersville's goalie busy throughout the game, and Curtis Dortenzio made 37 saves on 40 shots.

Grimsby also got a goal from Brennan Smith as well. More assists for Grimsby came via Joshua Kozielski, Matthew Jambrosich, Nicholas Purves, and Curtis Jacques, who contributed one each.

The Hawks stifled Grimsby's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

The Peach Kings incurred 42 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors. Hagersville incurred 36 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Team's Jacob Bianchi and Mitch Green were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
