The Aylmer Spitfires climbed out of a two-goal hole to beat the Lambeth Lancers, 4-3.
Aylmer let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Spitfires took a 3-2 advantage on a power play goal by Jacob Jammes at 13:19 in the third period. Aylmer found itself down 2-0 after Lambeth's Warren Hargraves put the puck home at 6:07 in the second period. After knotting things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Kale Corbeth at 15:38 in the third, the Spitfires got the game-winner from Cody Underhill at 19:40 in the third period.
The win by Aylmer broke a deadlock and gave the Spitfires a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series.
Underhill had two goals to lead Aylmer to victory.
The Spitfires had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just two goals on 10 chances.
Dylan Salter also scored for Aylmer. Other players who recorded assists for Aylmer were Luke Bettencourt, who had two and Clint Walker and Andrew Goldberg, who contributed one each.
The Lancers kept Aylmer's goalie busy throughout the game, and Lucas Easterbrook made 44 saves on 47 shots.
Lambeth additionally got points from Corbeth, who also had one goal and one assist and Matt Schurr, who also tallied one goal and one assist. More assists for Lambeth came via Eric Rivard, who had one.
The Spitfires incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Lambeth's JP Trudell stopped 26 shots out of the 30 that he faced. The Lancers incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
