The East Coast Eagles Bantam A team closed out their home season at the Factory’s Ice House with two games against the Hampton Roads Whalers from eastern Virginia.

In the first of two games on the weekend, the Eagles went down a goal early in the first period.  Team Captain Alex Drake evened the score with 4:49 left in the first with a feed from centerman Colton Forbis.  Two minutes later, while on the power play, center Henry Shriver took a feed from Lucas Bowers and put it past the goalie, making the score 2-1 Eagles at the end of the first period.  Forward Bobby Graham got the second period’s only goal, a short-handed one, on a pass from Jack Shriver.  Midway through the third period, defender Josh Burgess scored from the point on a pass from Graham.   Finishing off the scoring for the day, found Drake again notching one with assists from defenders Cam Weiland and Phillip Radosta. Final score was 5-3 in favor of the Eagles with a total of 13 shots faced and 10 saves by goalie Zach Walker.

In the second game, Assistant Captain Lucas Bowers ripped the first two goals at the 8:46 and 4:10 mark in the first period, first assisted by the other Assistant Captain Phillip Radosta and then by forward David Newman.  The Eagles’ third goal came as Drake was trying the move the puck from the defensive zone on a penalty kill. He took a long clearing shot from his own blue line, the puck rolled up on its edge, slowly curved toward the net and caught the goalie snoozing. When asked about it, Drake said “I couldn't believe it went in.”  Drake’s second goal came less than four minutes later on a pass from Burgess.  Less than a minute after that, while on the power play, Graham found the back of the net on a feed from line-mate Nick Criscitiello, making the score 5-0. Forward Evan Tytran closed out the period’s scoring with a quick shot from in front of the goalie fed in by Jack Shriver.  The only goal in the third period came from Newman on a tight play in the opponent’s crease.  Eagles goalie Zach Walker faced 12 shots on the day, saving them all and bringing him his third shutout of the season.

The Eagles finished their home season on a high note winning both games in their home gray jerseys.  Final games of the season will come in Pittsburgh, PA at the Pittsburgh Presidents Cup tournament.
