Beaver and Blackhawk were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Beaver made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.
Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Andrew Begley secured the win for Beaver with a goal in the third period.
John Cahill was all over the ice for Beaver, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Cahill scored the first of his two goals at 12:48 into the first period to make the score 2-2. Ryan Hartman picked up the assist. Cahill's next tally made the score 4-2 Beaver with 7:47 left in the third period. Hartman assisted on the tally.
Beaver's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Blackhawk power plays. Beaver kept Blackhawk's goalie busy throughout the game, and Corey Steinle made 35 saves on 39 shots. Beaver got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.
Beaver additionally got points from Hartman, who also tallied one goal and two assists and Begley, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Beaver received assists from Stelio Chirgott, who had one.
Beaver was unable to stop Blackhawk from sending pucks towards the net, and Blackhawk eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.
Blackhawk was helped by Devon Gabauer, who racked up one goal. Gabauer scored 1:52 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Sean Steinle picked up the assist. Grant Rombold also scored for Blackhawk. More assists for Blackhawk came via Alexander Lundy, who had one.
Robbie Halvin rejected 29 shots on goal for Beaver. Beaver incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Blackhawk incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
