Wingham rips Goderich, 6-2

The Goderich Flyers had trouble finding ways to stop the Wingham Ironmen, which beat Flyers, 6-2.

Keifer MacInnes had two goals and one assist to lead Wingham. MacInnes scored the first of his two goals at 15:52 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Wingham. J J Harland assisted on the tally. MacInnes' next tally made the score 4-1 Wingham with 14:02 left in the third period. Harland provided the assist.

Goderich was unable to stop the Ironmen from sending pucks towards the net, and Wingham eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

Wingham also had goals scored by Matt McCracken, who had two and Holdyn Lansink and Josh Stewart, who scored one goal each. More assists for Wingham came via Brett Brophy and Greg Scott, who each chipped in one.

The Flyers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

Goderich was helped by Joseph Dykstra, who tallied one goal. Dykstra scored on the power play 7:11 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Wingham. The Flyers had gotten the advantage when the Ironmen's MacInnes was sent off for holding. Cody McIntyre also scored for Goderich.

Jaden Shrier recorded 24 saves for Wingham. The Ironmen ended with 45 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. Goderich's Pat Do stopped 25 shots out of the 31 that he faced. The Flyers incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
