Jim is the head baseball coach for the Clackamas College Cougars. He coached 10 years at the high school level and also coached OBA teams for six years, winning a pair of World Series titles. He was also the associate head coach of the Portland Kings collegiate team for two years.
Jim Hoppel has been on the Cougar baseball staff for 14 years as an assistant coach, associate head coach, and co-head coach. He played, and later coached, at Milwaukie High School. Jim played at Clackamas Community College in 1982 before joining the Army and attending Texas A&M from 1983-86, earning his Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice.
Jim is looing forward to bringing professional baseball to Oregon City. "Jim is very knowledgeable about the area, the field, and all the businesses in the area", said Mike Greene, MRPBL commissioner. "And he has a passion for baseball, which is the key ingredient in all of our hires. Jim is the perfect fit to be the general manager for the Oregon City Mud Turtles. With Jim Hoppel as the General Manager and Joseph Brown as the Field Manager, I predict a very successful first season in Oregon City on and off the field".
Jim is married to his wife, Sharon, and has three daughters: Chelsea, Kala, and Jill. He also has two grandchildren, Ryder and Kyla. Jim has owned a security business for 25 years.
