The Fergus Devils could not stop the Alliston Hornets' Nick Arcan, who tallied a hat trick in a 5-2 win.
Arcan's first goal came 6:30 into the first period. He then added goals at 8:37 into the first and at 18:22 into the third.Fergus' power play was ineffective against Alliston's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.
The Hornets' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on nine Fergus power plays.
Alliston also had goals scored by Steve Griggs and Brendan Spencer, who scored one goal each. In addition, Alliston received assists from Nic Archibald, who had two, Jacob Tuck, who had three, and Payton Dunlop, Joe Cochrane, and Andrew Ceolin, who each chipped in one.
The Devils were led by Griffin Heitshu, who racked up one goal and one assist. Heitshu scored 9:10 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Alliston. Tyson Bouchard assisted on the tally. Joshua Schafer also scored for Fergus. Other players who recorded assists for Fergus were Paolo Chemello, who had one.
Alliston totaled 33 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 2-for-4 on the power play. For the Hornets, Jamie Bennett was ejected from the game. Fergus incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
