The MRPBL has reached a tentative agreement with Whitefish Montana to bring a franchise there in 2015.
The team will be called the Glacier Grizzlies after Glacier National Park. The team will play at Memorial Park in Whitefish. The communities that it will encompass are Whitefish, Kalispell and Columbia Falls, Montana. Flathead County has a population of 93,000 and is a perfect fit for the MRPBL's idea of where franchises should be.
Whitefish representatives Bob Lockman, and Bob Rupp along with city administrators are excited about bring professional baseball to the area and have been supportive from the first contact. They run the Glacier Twins Legion program and the MRPBL will work together to support the local baseball programs as much as possible.
Mike Greene MRPBL commissioner has been searching for the perfect 6th city for awhile to close out the franchises for the inagural season. " I'm super excited about branching off into Montana with our league" Mike stated during a phone interview. Mike will be meeting city officials on December 12th to sign the stadium lease and meet the people of Flathead County. Mike also quoted "We wanted to be in cities that were happy to have professional baseball and the support has been incredible. We will do our best to bring a quality entertainment value to the people of Whitefish, Columbia Falls and Kalispell". The MRPBL is excited to bring Professional Baseball to the area and we are excited to see the fans of Whitefish.
With the added 6th franchise, the divisions will be changed. The East division will be comprised of Ellensburg Bulls, Moses Lake Rattlesnakes and the Glacier Grizzlies.
The West division will have the Skagit Valley Lumberjacks, Grays Harbor Gulls and the Oregon City Mud Turtles.
The MRPBL will start its first season Mid May and will have teams in the great states of Washington, Oregon and Montana.
