Agnew leads MISSISSAUGA over SOUTHWEST, 3-1


Behind a great game by Lindsay Agnew, who had one goal and two assists, MISSISSAUGA defeated SOUTHWEST, 3-1.

Agnew beat Hanna Slater with a shot 19:02 into the third period to make the score 3-1 MISSISSAUGA. Agnew dished an assist on Adriana Vicic's goal that made the score 1-0 MISSISSAUGA at 2:45 into the first period. He added another helper on Stephanie Sucharda (A)'s goal that made the score 2-1 MISSISSAUGA at 12:36 into the second period.

MISSISSAUGA pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 18 penalty minutes.

MISSISSAUGA's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on 10 SOUTHWEST power plays. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

MISSISSAUGA also got points from Sucharda (A), who also racked up one goal and one assist and Vicic, who also had one goal and one assist.

SOUTHWEST struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 14 penalty minutes for seven opposing power plays.

SOUTHWEST was led by Angeline Taiariol (A), who scored the team's only goal. Taiariol (A) scored 10:45 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Muna Fadel picked up the assist.

Lin Han made 18 saves for MISSISSAUGA on 19 shots. SOUTHWEST's Slater stopped 23 shots out of the 25 that she faced.
