Early goals doom SOUTHWEST, falls to NEPEAN, 6-1

NEPEAN jumped out to a four-point advantage by the end of the first period and beat SOUTHWEST, 6-1.

NEPEAN was led by Leanne Baker, who grabbed one goal. Baker scored 13:00 into the first period to make the score 2-0 NEPEAN. Samantha Bouley provided the assist.

NEPEAN forced SOUTHWEST's goalies to work between the pipes, ripping 34 shots and forcing 28 saves. Hanna Slater made 26 stops and Alex Rajsigl made two. NEPEAN put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow SOUTHWEST to score on any of its four power plays.

NEPEAN also got points from Julie Vaillancourt, who also finished with two goals and one assist, Blake Orosz, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, and Lindsay Eastwood(C), who also registered one goal and one assist. NEPEAN also got a goal from Kristy Pidgeon as well. More assists for NEPEAN came via Kalie Grant, Alyssa Baker(A), Devon Greenough, and Caileah Forrest, who contributed one each.

SOUTHWEST struggled on the penalty kill, allowing NEPEAN to score two power play goals on three chances.

Kira Bombay recorded 20 saves for NEPEAN. NEPEAN incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. SOUTHWEST incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
