The Goderich Flyers could not stop the Mount Forest Patriots' Trevor Hughson, who tallied a hat trick in a 6-2 win.
Hughson notched his first tally 16:36 into the first period. He then added goals at 12:42 into the second and at 6:55 into the third.Mount Forest also got points from Doug Costanzo, who also racked up one goal and three assists. Mount Forest also had goals scored by Devin Williams and Brady Becker, who scored one goal each. More assists for Mount Forest came via Luke Richardson, who had three and Doug Ardis, Brendon Aitken, Cody Wright, Josh Perdue, and Mitch Betts, who each chipped in one.
Goderich kept Mount Forest's goalie busy throughout the game, and John Nixon made 33 saves on 35 shots.
The Flyers were led by Curtis Taylor, who had two goals. Taylor scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 1:35 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Mount Forest. Taylor Helesic picked up the assist. Taylor's next tally on the power play made the score 2-2 with 11:49 left in the second period. Nick Gowing provided the assist. In addition, Goderich received assists from Darby Tyhdall and Joseph Dykstra, who contributed one each.
The Patriots incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For Mount Forest, Wright and Ian Bridgwater were ejected from the contest. Pat Do took the loss and made 17 saves before being replaced by Nathan Watson who made six saves. Goderich incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
