Wooster Earns Opening Weekend Sweep over St. Louis.

Game 1: Wooster 9 @ St. Louis 2

The Oliers skated out to a 7-0 lead after 40 minutes, thanks in part to a hat trick from Remington Reynolds, and a pair of goals from Brandon Scholze. Oliers forward Will Schober made it an 8-0 Wooster lead before the Frontenacs got back-to-back goals Nick Tobey and Kyle Parker, but Jeffery Skinner’s second goal of the game sealed the 9-2 Wooster victory. Scholze lead all scorers with five points (2g, 3a), followed Reynolds (3g, 1a) and Skinner (2g, 2a) who each recorded four points. Wooster netminder Steven Schmitt stopped 28-of-30 shots for his first Career MnJHL win, while St. Louis’ Travis Bastin blocked 41 of the 50 shots he saw to take the loss.  

Game 2: Wooster 9 @ St. Louis 1

Steven Frankel and Remington Reynolds each potted a pair of goals while Rubin Chavarria, Will Schober, Casey Carpenter and Jason Watts each chipped in one to give Wooster its second win on the weekend. Henry Hunsaker scored the lone goal for the Frontenacs. Creighton Furber made 16 saves on 17 shots to collect his first career MnJHL win, while Travis Bastin and Matt Memolo combined to stop 43 of the 52 shots they faced in the loss.

Game 3: Wooster 12 @ St. Louis 3

The Oilers completed the sweep of the Frontenacs on Sunday, as 14 different players recorded points, including multipoint games from Bradley Sneed and Jeffrey Skinner (2g, 1a each), Jason Watts (3a), Ryan McCarty and Remington Reynolds (1g, 1a each), and Brandon Scholze (2a). St. Louis got contributions from Kyle Parker, Chad Meece and Reid Carnes. Matt Douglas stopped 35 of the 38 shots he faced to collect his first career MnJHL win, while Travis Bastin and Jared Bradley combined to make 35 saves on 47 shots in the loss.
