Wingham takes care of Goderich early, wins 9-0

A four-goal first period deficit cost the Goderich Flyers, which could not recover and fell to the Wingham Ironmen, 9-0.

Mike Ratchford frustrated Goderich's offense all game, and stopped 28 shots en route to a shutout. The solid play of Ratchford will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.5.

Holdyn Lansink was all over the ice for Wingham, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Lansink scored on the power play 2:29 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wingham. An interference penalty on Cody McIntrye had put the Ironmen on the power play. Brett Brophy assisted on the tally.

Wingham forced the Flyers' netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, taking 42 shots and forcing 33 saves. Nathan Watson made 10 stops and Pat Do made 23. The Ironmen stifled Goderich's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Wingham outdid its season average for goals scored. The Ironmen average 4.3 goals per game. Wingham's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in three goals. The Ironmen could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game.

Wingham additionally got points from Jordie Schneider, who also registered one goal and one assist, Adam Armstrong, who also registered one goal and one assist, Greg Scott, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Ryan McNeil, who also racked up two goals and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Wingham included Bailey Poels, Cody Lang, and Jordan Skerrett, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Wingham were Liam Gangl(AP), Tyler Stacey Fritz(AP), Matt McCracken, and Carter Stewart, who contributed one each.

The Flyers' penalty kill was ineffective, and let in two goals to Wingham's power play unit.

For the Ironmen, Lansink was ejected from the game. Goderich incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
