
Double Medal Performance for Goulbourn Hornets Bantam Boys
The Goulbourn Hornets Bantam Boys Basketball team were bronze medalists in the Eastern Ontario Basketball Association Championships held March 22-24. The boys defeated the Kanata Cavaliers 30-27 and Kingston Impact 47-46 in preliminary round action to advance to the medal round. After dropping a 47-32 decision to the Nepean Blue Devils in the semi-finals the team regrouped to defeat the Kingston team in the bronze medal match by an identical 47-46 score. All 12 players made significant contributions to the team's success over the course of the weekend.
The boys were coming off a silver medal winning performance at the Hoopdome Classic Tournament which was held in Toronto March 1-3. The team defeated CKATT-Mississauga and two Cambridge teams to advance to the gold medal game on Sunday where they came up short against a strong Etobicoke squad. The team is led by coaches Bryan Moore and Karl Seiffert, who are both alumni of the Goulbourn Basketball Association, and has improved steadily throughout the season under their direction. The team is competing in the AA Division of the Eastern Ontario Basketball Association and will wind up their season April 19-21 by participating in the 2013 provincial championships being held in Mississauga.
