Tuesday was a great day for Tyler Stubblefield, as Stubblefield threw a shutout to carry the Matsu Miners (24-12) to a 1-0 victory over the Alaska Goldpanners at Hermon Brothers Field in seven innings.
Stubblefield kept contact to a minimum, striking out 11 the Alaska Goldpanners (28-8) batters. The Matsu Miners' pitcher tossed seven innings of shutout ball and allowed only four hits.
Despite the loss, the Alaska Goldpanners' Russell Harmening dominated the Matsu Miners' batters, giving up one run and striking out five.
Harmening ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his third loss of the year.
