Canada's Offense Delivers against England

DENVER, CO - The weather was not the only thing lighting up the Denver sky on Saturday night; Team Canada found their offensive stride against Team England with an overall dominating performance handing England their second loss of the Worlds 23-3.  After a nearly two-hour weather delay, Canada took to the field for game two of their 2014 FIL World Championships journey and delivered a performance that did not disappoint for the fans who braved the cold and rain.

With nine different Canadians finding the back of the net, Canada showed England and the world that their offensive game has stepped it up, completing passes at indescribable angles, winning face-offs, maintaining possession and firing a 62% shot percentage.

It took nearly four minutes into the game before either team got on the board, but England opened up the scoring to take an early, yet short-lived lead.  It was only a few minutes later that Canada's Zack Greer, with his third of the Worlds, evened things up sending Canada on what would become a thirteen goal run to end the first half.

Canada continued their run in the second half connecting for three more goals before England was able to net their second.  England managed to score one more before the game was over but just could not match Canada's ten goals of the second half before the final whistle blew.  Canada's dominant performance resulted in a 23-3 final score.

Coming off a somewhat quiet game against Team USA, Canada's Curtis Dickson and Adam Jones were both offensive powerhouses against England tallying a combined ten (10) goals and eight (8) assists and Geoff Snider won 18-of-21 draws.

It was not just their offense game that did the talking Saturday night as Canada showed their strength on both ends of the field.  Team Canada's backend played shutdown defense causing thirteen turnovers and goalies Dillon Ward and Brennan Donville split the duties between the pipes.

Canada continues pool-play on Sunday against the Iroquois Nationals at 8pm MST at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Denver, CO.  For Canadian-based fans, be sure to tune into TSN2.  Starting tonight all Team Canada games will be aired on TSN2 including all medal games Team Canada advances to.
