Norcross, GA- The Atlanta Crackers (0-1) dropped the opening game of the season to the Phenix City Crawdads (1-0) by a score of 7-6.
The Crawdads struck first in the top of the first inning when Cam Sanders was driven in by a Carson Bowers single.
The Crackers scored their first run in the bottom of the first when Ryan Patterson drove in Tyler Avera on a sacrifice.
Again, each team scored a run in the 3rd inning. For the crackers, Reed Anthes drove in Scott Paulus and for the Crawdads, Cam Sanders crossed the plate a second time.
The Crawdads came alive for 4 runs in the 4th inning where they batted around. Kevin Manos, Blaine Miller, Hunter Bowling, and Caleb Williams all scored this inning.
In the 6th, Cameron Sanders drove in Caleb Williams for the Crawdads final run of the evening. For the Crackers, Brock Maxwell drove in 2 runs off of a single.
The Crackers scored again in the 7th inning. Scott Paulus was driven in by Ryan Patterson after Paulus led off the inning with a double.
The Crackers nearly tied it up in the bottom of the 9th. Weston Jackson scored to narrow the lead to 1 run. Tyler Avera was on third base with 2 outs when Ryan Patterson flied out to end the game.
For Phenix City, Bryan Headley earned the win and Blake Schuck got the save. Alex Roberts received the loss for the Crackers.
The two teams will square off once more on Wednesday night in Norcross where the Crawdads will try for the sweep.
