Indian Trail, NC – The Team Carolina Hockey Association is pleased to announce that it will be fielding Tier I/AAA National bound teams at the 14U and 16U age levels for the upcoming 2014-2015 season. Team Carolina was founded on the premise that all players in the Affiliate should have the opportunity to grow and develop into better hockey players without having to move away from home at an early age. As a regional program, it allows players from throughout the Carolinas to participate and develop their game with other players possessing a similar focus on high-level development and competition. The model is unique in that it provides more time during the week for players to participate in activities outside of hockey while establishing an intense combine style weekend format providing on-ice and office training, video sessions, team building, etc.
Team Carolina has established a strong working relationship with the top Tier II programs in the area including the East Coast Eagles and Charlotte Jr. Checkers who are both in favor of and support the regional concept. These programs place a heavy emphasis on player development and over the past several years have had multiple teams compete for and win USA Hockey National Championship titles.
Tryouts will be held in early May and will be open to all players. The 14U team will play an independent schedule of Tier I/AAA tournaments and exhibition games while the 16U team will participate in the USPHL Futures League and play an independent schedule of Tier I/AAA games. At this time weekday skill based practices and mini-camp weekends will be offered in both Charlotte and Raleigh for the 2014-2015 season. Other locations could be added once final rosters are determined.
