The Wooster Oilers would like to congratulate Braden Smith on his commitment to Framingham State University!
Oilers GM/Head Coach Valentino Hernandez was excited to hear about the news. "Braden becomes the first Wooster Oilers player in the existence of the organization to commit to an NCAA DIII hockey program. His work ethic on and off the ice along with his commitment and determination to excel at the Tier III junior level has earned him this opportunity with Framingham State University (MA)" says the second year GM/Head Coach.
Rams Head Coach TJ Brown is "hoping for good things" from Braden and "hope he can help us to continue to build our program." Smith joined the Oilers in January of the 2013-14 season. He played in 19 regular season games with 9 goals and 13 assists for 22 points. He also scored both of the Oilers goals in Game 2 of the Great Lakes Division Playoff Semi-Finals against the Marquette Royals.
Braden Smith had this to say about Coach Hernandez, "I want to thank you for helping me in my career and making me not only a better hockey player but a better person."
Coach Hernandez has known Braden and his family for quite some time. "I've watched Braden grow as a player from the time he played goaltender to transitioning from that position to becoming the center he is today. I couldn't be more happier for him as he has worked so hard for this opportunity. I along with Coach Aaron and the entire Wooster Oilers Organization wish Braden the best as he continues to play hockey at the NCAA DIII level while earning his degree at Framingham State University. We are all so happy and proud of him"
