COLUMBUS, GA - The Pensacola Ice Flyers relied on the scoring touch of Brett Lutes, who netted two goals, to beat the Columbus Cottonmouths, 5-1 and capture the SPHL President's Cup Championship for the second consecutive year.  Pensacola joins the Knoxville Ice Bears (2008, 2009) as the only teams to record back-to-back championships.

Lutes, who led all players with five goals and two game-winners in the postseason, was named Most Valuable Player.

After opening the scoring just 2:18 into the first period, Lutes scored his second goal of the period just over five minutes later to propel the Ice Flyers to a 2-0 lead.

Corey Banfield also scored twice for Pensacola, while John Dunbar added a power-play marker late in the second period. In addition, Pensacola received a pair of assists from Drew Baker and Paul Rodrigues while Tyler Amburgey, Steve Whitely, Ryan Salvis, Steve Bergin, and Jeremy Gates contributed one each.

Columbus was led by Preston Shupe, who scored the team's only goal. Shupe scored 11:35 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Pensacola. Jason Gray assisted on the tally.

Ross MacKinnon rejected 21 shots on goal for the Ice Flyers while the Cottonmouths' Andrew Loewen stopped 25 shots out of the 30 that he faced.
