Hockey Operations Suspended Indefinitely
Date: May 1, 2014
Biloxi, MS - Tonight marks the first game of a ‘best of three’ series between the Mississippi Surge and the Pensacola Ice Flyers. The two teams are no stranger to each other, facing each other a total of twelve times in the regular season.
The Surge will look to play a full, physical 60 minutes of hockey to match the intensity of the number one seed. Surge Center Justin MacDonald said “Hard work beats talent” in talking about facing his former team. “All teams are 0-0, so it doesn’t matter what they did in the regular season.”
An upset tonight in Pensacola, would give the Surge a chance at sweeping the number one seeded Ice Flyer bunch on home ice this Saturday night.
While many have written the Surge off, favoring a talented Pensacola team, the Surge have quietly been working hard, and defeating the Ice Flyers would come as no surprise to them. As Justin MacDonald put it, “The playoffs are a whole different game. It’s our game.”
