Ex-Westerner Named National Player of the Week For No-No

RHP Jake Stinnett was named one of Louisville Slugger/Collegiate Baseball News’ National Player of the Week on March 3rd.

As Collegiate Baseball News reported: “Stinnett fired the first no-hitter since 2008 for Maryland during a 4-0 win over Massachusetts on March 1st. He faced only two batters over the minimum during the nine-inning contest, both of whom walked, while striking out nine. Stinnett retired the final 11 batters of the game.”

Stinnett appeared in 16 regular and post-season games for the 2012 Danbury Westeners, posting a 1.35 ERA and striking out 20 in 20 innings.  The Vista, California native allowed just six hits during his NECBL summer.

The NECBL congratulates Jake on this outstanding accomplishment.
