Hoey nets hat trick, leads East Coast Eagles to 4-1 win over Potomac Patriots

Potomac Patriots could not stop East Coast Eagles' Brendan Hoey, who tallied a hat trick in a 4-1 win.

Hoey got on the scoresheet 11:07 into the first period. He then added goals at 11:20 into the second and at 19:20 into the third.

East Coast Eagles pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 42 penalty minutes.

East Coast Eagles' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Potomac Patriots power plays. Potomac Patriots was unable to stop East Coast Eagles from sending pucks towards the net, and East Coast Eagles eventually piled up 40 shots on goal.

Chris Bowden also scored for East Coast Eagles. Other players who recorded assists for East Coast Eagles were Sam Rehbock, Zack Tisdale, and Caleb Garrity, who each chipped in one and Vaden McManus and Zack Frank, who contributed two a piece.

Potomac Patriots' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Potomac Patriots finished with 36 penalty minutes.

Potomac Patriots was led by Justin Niestroy, who scored the team's only goal. Niestroy scored 8:04 into the third period to make the score 3-1 East Coast Eagles. Michael Santiago provided the assist.

Brandon Brown made 15 saves for East Coast Eagles on 16 shots. East Coast Eagles registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Potomac Patriots' Alex Sokich stopped 36 shots out of the 40 that he faced.
