Both teams earned home ice advantage for the first round of USPHL playoffs that begins this weekend.  After 40 regular season games the Empire team clinched the Southern Conference Empire division while the Elite team clawed their way to fourth place in the Elite division by picking up 2 critical points on the last day of the regular season.  Both teams will be hosting the Potomac Patriots in a best of 3 series to determine who will continue on in a pursuit of the league championship.
