The Halton Hills Jr B Bulldogs will host the Orillia Kings on Saturday night at 7:30pm at Alcott Arena in the first of two meetings this season between the two clubs.
Following a narrow 9-7 win in their home opener over Oakville last Saturday night, Halton Hills will be looking to find that consistency in their game early in the season, something that wasn't present for a full 60-minutes to begin the season.
"Our defence and goaltending were very good at times, however our offence will still need to find a level of consistency to be successful," said Bulldogs GM Mike Hancock.
That consistency won't be easy to find as the offence suffered a bit of a blow already losing newcomer Sean Connors to an upper body injury for 2-3 weeks and Jesse Copeland is day-to-day with a lower body injury that may keep him out of Saturday's game.
Add into the mix that Michael MacDonald is still a couple of weeks away from returning from Princeton and Tyler Aunon is not back from Delaware until June 1, and the Dogs will have their work cut out for them up front for the next several weeks.
"We're not usually a team that sits back and waits," said Hancock referring to adding a piece sooner than later. "Picking up another piece before the first of June is a priority for us right now."
The Dogs defensive corps will also be boosted over the next couple of weeks with Leland de Langley set to return from McGill University. Also, midget graduate Theo Dol will be back from Avon Old Farms (Connecticut). Dol has verbally committed to attend the University of Virginia in the fall of 2015.
Additionally, Mitchell Christopher is set to finish serving a 10-game game suspension following the May long weekend which will also bolster the Bulldogs' depth.
Saturday night's game will be the second of three home games to open the season for Halton Hills before they hit the road for a pair of games next weekend in Akwesasne and Kahnawake.
