Dogs Up 2-0 And Head To Montreal Saturday

Date:  Source: OJBLL: Halton Hills Bulldogs (NEW)

The Halton Hills Jr B Bulldogs lead the Kahnawake Hunters 2 games to none in their first round OJBLL series following a pair of home wins over the weekend at Alcott Arena in Georgetown.

The Dogs put in a pair of efforts which saw them carry the play for large chunks of the game, however Hunters goaltender Okwi Stacey kept both games within reach for the visitors.

Saturday, the home side controlled things from start to finish after building a 6-2 lead after 20 minutes.  A 12-7 final gave the Dogs a 1-0 series lead.

Approximately 14 hours after the conclusion of game 1, the two teams were back at it at Alcott Arena for game 2.  Kahnawake jumped out to a 2-0 lead but saw the Dogs roar back to eventually build a 7-4 lead.

The Bulldogs found themselves looking for offensive answers as they fired shot after shot at the Hunters goal only to be turned aside and fall behind 8-7.  Mikey MacDonald scored with just 41 seconds left in regulation to force overtime.

In overtime it was all Dogs.  Brandon Clelland and Jesse Copeland scored the only two goals of the extra frame to give Halton Hills a 10-8 win.

Brendan MacDonald did not dress for either game on the weekend and Bulldogs leading scorer missed Sunday's game.  Both are expected to be in the lineup this weekend in Kahnawake.

The Dogs also received good news on Tuesday as defender Leland de Langley will practice Thursday for the first time this season as he recovers from an off-season injury.

Game 3 of the series will be played on Saturday night at 8pm in Kahnawake at an arena to be determined.
