Thamesford holds on for 6-4 win against Aylmer

The Aylmer Spitfires tried their best to erase a four-goal deficit, but the Thamesford Trojans would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 6-4.

Thamesford made the score 6-2 on a goal by Fabio Galante at 12:37 in the second period, and Aylmer got as close as 6-4 when Cody Underhill scored 12:13 into the third period.

The Trojans got the win with help from a great game by Galante, who had two goals and two assists. Galante scored the first of his two goals at 9:59 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Thamesford. Alex Lumani picked up the assist. Galante's next tally made the score Thamesford with 7:23 left in the second period. Thamesford earned a power play opportunity when Josh Houston was put in the box for unsportsmanlike conduct. Mitch Davies assisted on the tally.

The Trojans forced the Spitfires goalie Dan Black to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots.

Thamesford also got points from Adam Levine, who also had one goal and one assist, Davies, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Avery Antone, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Nicholas Moniz also scored for Thamesford. Other players who recorded assists for Thamesford were Jake McColl, who had two and Brad Chambers, Dylan Black, and Kyle Walker, who each chipped in one.

Aylmer struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 42 penalty minutes for 11 opposing power plays.

The Spitfires were helped by Brad Payne, who grabbed one goal. Payne scored 18:50 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Thamesford. Ryan Stapleton picked up the assist. Aylmer additionally got points from Stapleton, who also finished with one goal and one assist. More assists for Aylmer came via Luke Bettencourt, Kyle Dedecker, Jesiah Sweetland, Will Goodhue, and Adam Szwed, who contributed one a piece.

Thamesford's Jake Fonti stopped 20 shots out of the 24 that he faced. The Trojans incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Dan Black made 36 saves for Aylmer on 42 shots. The Spitfires registered zero goals on one power play opportunities.
