Red Knights Roll to Consolation Title

The Benilde St. Margaret's Red Knights defeated section rival Eden Prairie by a score of 5-2 to capture the Consolation Title at The Sports Authority St. Louis Park Holiday Classic.  Not only did it allow the Red Knights to earn a 2-0-1 record, it also was a meaningful win in the scheme of the Section 6AA standings.

Five different Red Knights scored to help earn their fifth win in seven games.  They have posted a 5-0-2 record in those contests.  Nick Austin, Spencer Naas, Johnny Austin, Chase Jungels, and Carter Roo     each scored to help the Red Knights to the balanced win.  They outshot the Eagles by a staggering 37-18 margin for the game.  Jalen Long made 16 saves to earn the victory in goal for the Red Knights.

The Red Knights (9-2-2) have been peppering their opponents net of late and out-shot their three opponents in the Holiday Classic by a 108-51 margin and were their usual effective 40% on the power play going 4-10 with the man advantage.

Eden Prairie and BSM are not finished as the Red Knights have claimed game one of three match-ups with the Eagles this season.  They will meet again on January 21st at the Eden Prairie Community Center and then again on February 8th from the St. Louis Park Rec Center.

Up next for the Red Knights is a date with another Section 6AA foe in the Wayzata Trojans this Thursday, January 2nd from the Plymouth Ice Center.
