Former Keene Swamp Bat dies in his sleep

Former Keene Swamp Bat Evan Chambers was found dead over the weekend, apparently passing away in his sleep, according to several news reports. He was 24 years old.

The cause of death was immediately unknown.

In 2008 in Keene, Chambers hit .276 in 35 games with 34 hits, three doubles, seven home runs, 14 stolen bases and 20 RBIs.
Originally from Miami, Chambers was selected in the third round of the 2009 MLB Amateur Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates and had been in their organization the last five years.
