Leafs uses early goal to top Bruins, 2-0

Paul Kessell scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and Leafs held off the challenges of Bruins in a tough 2-0 win.

Kessell provided Leafs with the game-winning tally when he scored 2:06 into the the first period. Paul Kessell picked up the assist.

Leafs was sparked by Kessell, who finished with one goal.

Leafs found itself stymied offensively, and got off a mere seven shots against Bruins' defense.

Leafs also got a goal from Ray Bourque as well. Other players who recorded assists for Leafs were Milan Lucic, who had one.

Leafs' defense shut down Bruins' forwards for much of the game, and Bruins got off only one shot during the contest.

Cody Vinnai made one save for Leafs on one shot. Leafs incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors and had no power play opportunities. Bruins took out Tuuka Rask after he had made two saves and installed James Reimer in goal, where he finished with three saves and the loss. Bruins avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored zero goals off of two power plays.
