2019-2020 Season Tryouts

Montmorency Falls Tour by Aaron Skidmore
There were many sightseeing opportunities during the trip, but one of the best has to be Montmorency Falls. The falls are actually 98 feet taller that Niagara Falls. The picturesque setting of the half frozen falls and the view out onto the St Lawrence River is breath taking. There are several trails that provide easy access and views from all sides including directly over the falls. The highlight was watching the ice climbers as they attempted to scale one side of the frozen falls. If you have the chance to visit during the winter, be sure to try the hot chocolate!
Snow Park by Marna Bushong
Sunday was an exciting day for both the players and the parents; we spent the day together at the Snow Park. The Snow Park was an amazing place with hill after hill of tubing runs ranging from easy to double black diamond. The weather was chilly but sunny and conditions were perfect on the trails. Tubes with handles were provided to slide down the runs and there were tubes on conveyer belts that pulled you up the hills. I won’t mention any names, but several parents had a difficult time getting into the moving tubes creating some comic relief. The ‘Himalayas’’ seemed to be the most popular with the boys along with ‘Mount Everest’ which was the tallest and steepest run. Tubes could be linked together and everywhere you looked there were groups of tubes sailing down the mountain with smiling faces and screams of joy, and/or terror. There was also a beautiful lodge with several places to eat and relax after hours of hiking through the snow. The bus ride back to Quebec City was very quiet after an exhilarating 5 hours spent in a winter wonderland. The snow park was definitely a highlight of our visit to Quebec.
Ice Hotel Tour by Nancy Bertges
One of the many fun times we had during our trip to Quebec was our visit to the Hôtel de Glace. The visit was a truly unique experience! The hotel's entrance includes beautiful cathedral ceilings and ice sculptures. The guest rooms are all different and uniquely designed. The hotel also includes a slide made of ice. However, the best part was the ice bar in which drinks were served in glasses made of ice!
After the tour, the fun continued to the snack stand outside. The stand provided maple sticks made on the snow and warm maple drinks.
San Jose Jr. sharks Game (Loss 3-2)
CBJ were eliminated from the Quebec Pee Wee Tournament Thursday following a 3-2 loss to the San Jose Sharks. The game was very close from start to finish as the two teams battled for their tournament lives. CBJ saw a first period goal from Rahul Choudhary (assisted by Deric Richison and Dakotah Marshall) which tied the score at one. The Sharks managed to take a one goal lead again until Grant Bertges hit Deric Richison with an up ice pass and scored to tie the game 2-2 halfway through the 3rd period. The game winning goal came in the final 2 minutes of the game and the Sharks held on to defeat the CBJ 3-2. It was tough loss for the team that fought hard until the end. The kids played good hard hockey and did a great job representing the CBJ organization.
