The West Virginia ACHA women’s hockey team won a rivalry matchup, defeating the Pitt Panthers at 3-2 Morgantown Municipal Ice Arena via a goal with under three minutes left.
It didn’t take long for the Mountaineers to take the lead, as Stephanie Chmiel scored two minutes and forty-six seconds into the game.
However, Pitt tied it up with 13:29 left in the second period.
But one minute and twenty-six seconds into the third period Chmiel scored again, assisted by Julianna Baibos and Jennie Longo to put West Virginia in front.
Pitt responded again, tying the game again at 2-2 with 14:40 to play.
With 2:43 left in the third period the Mountaineers scored the winner, as Jennie Long set up Jana Garrow to score to put WVU ahead
