The West Virginia ACHA women’s hockey team against the Ohio State Buckeyes 5-4, moving to 4-2 this season.
The D2 Mountaineers struck first with 11:17 left in the first period, as Ally Schwind continued her scoring, assisted by Julianna Baibos and Stephanie Chmiel
Schwind then scored another goal just 53 seconds layer, with Mya Hennigam on the assist.
Ohio State scored just a minute and 15 seconds later, making it 2-1 with 9:05 left in the period.
The Buckeyes then tied the game at the first period buzzer, and the teams headed into the locker rooms tied at 2-2.
However, Ohio State took the lead just 17 seconds into the second period.
Ally Schwind then scored a hat trick with her third goal of the game with 12:05 left, assisted by Julianna Baibos
Baibos then got another assist, as Stephanie Chmiel gave the Mountaineers the lead a minute and 38 seconds into the third period, but Ohio State tied the game again just 21 seconds later.
Schwind then scored her fourth goal of the game, giving West Virginia the lead with 6:27 left in the game, assisted by Chmiel.
Despite being outshot 48-31, the Mountaineers won with Schwind’s four goals and 44 saves from Willow Herman.
The Mountaineers are back in action in two weeks, facing Delaware on Nov. 6. at 11:10 a.m.
