HASTINGS, Neb. – The Wheat City Whiskey Jacks’ disastrous losing streak continues, losing 2-1 versus the Hastings Sodbusters. The Whiskey Jacks have lost nine straight games.
Sodbusters first baseman Matt Halbach and shortstop Luke Solis both drove in one runner. Hallbach finished 2-for-4 and Solis finished hitless. Whiskey Jacks center fielder Houston Fogelstrom collected his first triple of the season. Shortstop Griffin Shearon collected his first RBI of the season on a sac-fly.
Whiskey Jacks pitcher Dylan Kuester (1-2, 4.55 ERA) was assigned his second loss of the season, giving up one run (earned) on 1.1 innings pitched. Starting pitcher Matthew Dalquist (3-1, 4.41 ERA) pitched six innings, allowing one run (unearned), while striking out eight batters. Sodbusters pitcher Ryan Melvin recorded the win in relief, pitching one shutout inning.
The Whiskey Jacks (21-37) have an off day Monday before starting a four-game series versus the Spearfish Sasquatch Tuesday. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m. (CST).
