Whiskey Jacks’ Skid Continues, Falling 10-4 to Sabre Dogs

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The Wheat City Whiskey Jacks continue their skid, losing six straight games after a 10-4 final versus the Souris Valley Sabre Dogs. 

 

The Sabre Dogs continued their hot stretch at the plate, as every starter collected one hit. First baseman Ethan Moore hit his seventh homerun of the season, finishing 1-for-4 with four RBI. Moore has 40 RBI this season. Designated hitter Aaron Suval collected his second double of the season, finishing 1-for-4 with one RBI. Catcher Taylor Justus finished 3-for-4, extending his three-game hitting streak to four Wednesday. Left fielder Drew Miller and second baseman Declan Buckle both finished with a pair of hits. 

 

Whiskey Jacks designated hitter Parker Stroh continued his hot stretch at the plate, going 2-for-5 with his second double of the season. First baseman Coby Tweten got on the board with his 3-for-5 start Wednesday. Catcher Rhett Stein collected his fifth double of the season, finishing 2-for-4. Stein also drove in two RBI, bringing his total to 18 on the season. Second baseman Nolan Lingley finished 1-for-5 and drove in his 17thrun of the season. 

 

Sabre Dogs pitcher Dominick Parkhurst (3-1, 3.13 ERA) collected the win Wednesday, pitching seven innings on three runs (all earned), allowing nine hits, and striking out four batters. Pitcher Jaiden Beck (4-0, 3.02 ERA) pitched two innings in relief, giving up one run (earned). Whiskey Jacks pitcher Sam Marhefke (3-6, 6.46 ERA) was assigned his second consecutive loss, pitching six innings on six runs allowed (five earned), striking out seven batters. 

 

The Whiskey Jacks (21-33) will play the final game of the series versus the Sabre Dogs (38-17) Thursday at 7:05 p.m. at Kraft Field.
