GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The Wheat City Whiskey Jacks lose their fifth straight game, falling 10-8 to the Souris Valley Sabre Dogs. Sabre Dogs third baseman Steven Moretto hit his second consecutive homerun, his seventh of the season. Moretto finished 3-for-4 with three RBI and a walk. Second baseman Declan Buckle went 1-for-4 with a double, two RBI, and two walks. First baseman Taylor Justus went 2-for-4 with a RBI, his second, and a walk. 

 

Whiskey Jacks second baseman Nolan Lingley continued his recent hot stretch at the plate, going 3-for-5, including his sixth double of the season, and his 16th RBI. Catcher Parker Stroh, who made his Whiskey Jacks debut Tuesday, hit his first double of the season, and finished 4-for-4. Left fielder Jake Hjelle hit his 14th double of the season and finished 1-for-4. Center fielder Cameron Daigle finished 1-for-4 with his 10th stolen base of the season.

 

Sabre Dogs pitcher Aaron Suval (2-2, 6.53 ERA) collected the win Tuesday, pitching two scoreless innings, walking four batters. Starting pitcher Shane Sinclair (2-1, 7.44 ERA) went 5.2 innings on 10 hits, eight runs allowed (five earned), walking three, and striking out one batter. Whiskey Jacks pitcher Kelan Scanlan (0-1, 9.25 ERA) was assigned the loss, giving up four runs (all earned) on two innings pitched, giving up six hits. Starting pitcher Matthew Dalquist (3-1, 5.33 ERA) pitched four innings on seven hits, five runs allowed (all earned), walked a season-high six batters, and struck out seven. 

 

The Whiskey Jacks (21-32) will face off again on Wednesday against the Sabre Dogs (37-17) at 7:05 p.m. at Kraft Field.
